We’re thrilled to share that Ambassador for Whales is back this October, returning for its second year of powerful collective action for whales, dolphins and porpoises.
Last year, 171 people became Ambassadors for Whales, helping raise vital funds to protect the marine wildlife we all care about. This year, the ocean needs even more voices, and thanks to match‑funding generously provided by Ambassador Cruise Line, every donation you make in October will be doubled.
Whales and dolphins are facing mounting threats from marine pollution, overfishing and the rapid expansion of global shipping. With vessel traffic expected to triple by 2050, vulnerable populations already struggling to recover are at growing risk. We must act now to protect them before it’s too late.
The only way to safeguard these animals is to understand the habitats they rely on most. That’s where ORCA’s monitoring work comes in. Our trained volunteers collect vital data at sea, identifying the hotspots whales and dolphins depend on so we can help keep them safe.
We need your help to reach our goal of £20,000 to support the coordination of hundreds of marine wildlife surveys each year to collect even more vital data. This evidence is used by governments, scientists and the maritime industry to identify whale and dolphin hotspots, inform safer shipping practices, influence policy and create safer oceans for these amazing animals in UK and European waters.
