We are excited to announce that the new ORCA Team Leader training course is now live on our e-learning platform. During 2024 we worked hard to refine our Team Leader training process, which included the creation of an online e-learning course for all of our Trainee Team Leaders to complete as part of their Team Leader training.
The e-learning course is comprehensive and has been designed to support our Trainee Team Leaders, complementing the training they will receive from ORCA staff remotely and experienced Team Leaders within their survey teams.
After completing the Team Leader e-learning course all Trainee Team Leaders will have a thorough understanding of the following:
• The role of the Team Leader within the ORCA survey team, and the responsibilities involved
• ORCA’s survey protocol and distance sampling methodologies
• ORCA’s impact and how Marine Mammal Surveyors play a vital role in this
• The logistics of putting ORCA survey teams together
Once enrolled and completed, all Team Leaders will continue to have access to the course therefore serving as a useful resource to refer back to when undertaking the Team Leader role. To ensure consistency during all ORCA surveys, and as an opportunity to upskill our amazing network of existing Team Leaders, all ORCA Team Leaders have been enrolled onto the course.
