Dear All,
I am very pleased to announce that ORCA will be able to recommence surveying in the Hebrides on board the wonderful Caledonian MacBrayne vessels this summer, and survey applications are now open!
We have surveys confirmed on the following five routes:
Ardrossan – Campbeltown – Ardrossan
Oban – Castlebay (Barra) – Oban
Oban – Coll – Tiree – Oban – Colonsay – Oban
Uig – Lochmaddy – Uig – Tarbert – Uig
Ullapool – Stornoway – Ullapool
Full details of the surveys, how to apply and what is required of ORCA volunteers on board can be found on the Applying for Surveys page on the Surveyor Network.
Please note applications will close at midnight on Monday 30th May 2022, and we will keep you all informed of the progress of the survey teams via the Surveyor Network News page.
The survey teams for the Brittany Ferries and Isles of Scilly survey routes have been confirmed up to July now, and all successful applicants will be contacted directly by ORCA.
Further surveying opportunities on other routes will become available over the upcoming weeks, and all Surveyor Network members will be informed by email when these become available for application.
We know that it has been a few years since many of you have been out at sea surveying for ORCA and therefore we have created a short quiz to help refresh your ORCA Marine Mammal Surveyor Surveying skills. This Surveying Skills Refresher Quiz is located on the Surveyor Network Documents page - enjoy!
With very best wishes,
Lucy
