Ocean Conservationist (x1) - DFDS English Channel 2025
Are you a passionate science communicator with a love for whales and dolphins?
ORCA is seeking a dedicated Ocean Conservationist to join our team onboard DFDS ferries from April to September 2025. In this role, you'll engage passengers in marine conservation, deliver educational activities, and collect vital data on whales, dolphins, and porpoises.
Alternating between two ships (the Côte d'Albâtre and Seven Sisters), you'll sail across the English Channel between Newhaven and Dieppe, inspiring others to protect our ocean wildlife.
Note: candidates must be fluent in French and English to be eligible for this role.

The Ocean Conservationist Network is a vital part of ORCA’s education and outreach work, inspiring thousands of passengers about the wonders in our waters every year. ORCA has been partnered with DFDS for 15+ years, with Ocean Conservationists providing passengers with an experience of a lifetime, as they enhance their passion and understanding of the marine world.
As an Ocean Conservationist, you will be instrumental in advancing ORCA’s mission by:
- Engaging & Educating the Public
Delivering dynamic presentations and workshops that inspire audiences of all ages.
Organizing interactive activities to help passengers connect with the ocean.
- Gathering Essential Data
Conducting daily cetacean surveys using the ORCA OceanWatchers app.
Leading wildlife-spotting sessions to enrich passengers’ onboard experience.
Please note: This is a remote position where you will be the sole ORCA representative on board.
