We’re so proud that Lucy has been selected for this prestigious programme

Edinburgh Ocean Leaders launched in 2020 and is a leadership programme designed specifically for young professionals working on the ocean. It combines leadership, mentoring and networking support with international field-based experiences.

By supporting creativity, leadership, problem-solving and networking, the aim of the Edinburgh Ocean Leaders programme is to advance the visions of the talented people selected to take part, and their organisations, providing a positive impact on our oceans for years to come.

Every year up to 10 young professionals are selected by an International Advisory Panel. They come from a range of different backgrounds with a wealth of experience in conservation, policy, advocacy, education, media, industry and research.

The Ocean Leaders selected to take part are at a pivotal juncture in their career, having already shown promise and capacity to become a changemaker. They come together for leadership training, mentoring, professional skills development and face-to-face learning experiences in field-based settings and work to solve complex problems. Each cohort of Ocean Leaders become part of a growing and globally distributed group with many becoming mentors for future Ocean Leaders.

We are so proud that our Head of Conservation and Deputy Director, Lucy, has been selected for this progressive programme. Her work is integral to ORCA’s mission to protect whales and dolphins and we can’t wait to see her thrive as an Ocean Leader.
