This April, your support can go twice as far in helping ORCA to protect large whales from ship strike as we take part in the Green Match Fund 2024!
The Green Match Fund gives environmental charities the chance to double their donations and helps raise much-needed funds for conservation projects. Between 18 April and 25 April, every donation made to ORCA through the Green Match Fund website will be doubled up to a whopping £10,000 - giving us much needed support to help our conservation work.
This year we are asking for help to support our ship strike research and training programme, with donations helping us to place a full time researcher working in the Bay of Biscay this summer helping us to better understand the way fin whales interact with large ships. We'll also be using the funding from this year to help produce new educational materials for seafarers to help them understand the ways that they can reduce the risk of collisions and help keep large whales in vital hotspots safe.
Taking part is simple - all you need to do is make a donation through the Green Match Fund portal between 18 April and 25 April 2024. All donations received before midday UK time on the final day will be doubled (up to a maximum of £10,000), with all proceeds going towards funding our ground-breaking ship strike research.
The great part is all donations made through the portal count - so as well as any donations you make yourself, you can also encourage friends and family to contribute as well to help us reach our target! You can even think about running your own fundraiser to help us make the most of this amazing opportunity!
